Have you ever had times when you just felt like, “I suck”? Your girl/guy dumped you, the unexpected bill came up, the sales pitch went terrible, your boss was on your butt, your checking account is less than you thought it was, and your smart phone just broke. Worst of all, it all seemed to happen at one time.

You feel like you can’t catch a break, like the world is against you. You think, “That’s it, the world finally figured out I was a fraud. Anything good that happened up to this point was luck. I’m one step away from living under a bridge and cooking garbage while splitting a bottle of MadDog 20/20 with my hobo friends.”

The roller coaster has bottomed out and there’s no upward trajectory in sight. You’re drowning in a bottomless ocean of suck and you forgot how to swim.

“I suck!!!!!!!!”

We’ve all been there. For those of us that have worked in sales it’s pretty much a weekly feeling.

But guess what? You don’t suck. What you are experiencing might suck, but you don’t suck.

The girl/guy that dumped you sucks. That unexpected bill sucks. The fact that the sales pitch went terrible sucks. Your boss sucks. Your checking account sucks. Your smart phone sucks. But you don’t suck!

I know it’s funny but it’s so important to remember that it isn’t you that is deficient. When things go bad we have a tendency to look inward and cast ourselves as a complete failure with no hope for redemption. We focus on the negative and forget all of the good things we have going for us and the things we have accomplished. Trust me, I’ve been there.

But it’s times like this that it’s more important than ever to be the rock in the storm. We have to let the sucky situations blow past us and maintain our belief in ourselves. We must pick ourselves up, look in the mirror, and tell ourselves, “I don’t suck.”

Go ahead and say it, “I don’t suck.” Say it again, “I don’t suck.” Scream it now, “I DON’T SUCK!!!!!”

Ahhhh, feels good doesn’t it?

It feels good to say because the truth is that you don’t suck. You are awesome! You are strong and you will bounce back from whatever it is that’s affecting you. Do you know why? Because as long as you’re healthy all you need to succeed and overcome this bad time is what you possess internally – your intellect and your drive. No matter what the situation, all you need are those two things to pick yourself up off the ground, dust yourself off, and get back out there to kick some butt!

Situations go bad sometimes. As much as we want to we can’t control things that are external to us. We can’t make the girlfriend/boyfriend stay with us and while I can influence the sales pitch I can’t make up their mind for them. Stuff happens sometimes.

But you can’t let that influence who you are and how you feel about yourself. The winds of the suck storm may blow against you but they won’t break you. That storm will pass and you will live to fight another day!

You don’t suck. You never have and you never will. So quit with the “I suck” talk, get up off the ground, and go out there for the next round! If you do, I guarantee that you will turn it around and start to see light at the end of the tunnel.

I don’t suck and neither do you!!!!!!
